PARKINSON'S SUPPORT GROUP
Posted 09/03/25Parkinson's disease is a progressive brain disorder that affects movement. It is characterized by symptoms such as tremors, stiffness, balance problems, and slowed movements. The disease occurs when nerve cells in the brain that produce dopamine become damaged or die, leading to these motor symptoms. While the exact cause is often unknow, some cases may be inherited. Treatment ooptions include medications to manage symptoms, physical therapy, and in some cases, surgical interventions.
If you or a loved one are dealing with Parkinson's and looking for some support, there is a new Parkinson's Support Group starting in Wheeling and they encourage all who are affected by Parkinson's whether, you are a caregiver or family of someone with this diease, to come and join them. This is sponsored by Family Service Upper Ohio Valley.
The group will meet at the Ohio County Senior Center, 2200 Main Street, 1st Floor Wheeling WV, 26003. This meeting will be held on the 4th Friday of each month and it will begin on September 26, 2025 @ 10:30 am.
